Kinesiology first started out in the 1960’s with
a chiropractor with a fantastic name - Dr George Goodheart.
His branch of Kinesiology worked very physically on the
body. Since then different Kinesiologies have evolved which
deal in specific areas of expertise.
There are now various different branches of Kinesiology
but the area that Alison works with is called specialised
Kinesiology and she is a qualified PKPer (Professional
Kinesiology Practitioner) having undertaken the programme
developed by Dr Bruce Dewe of New Zealand.
The main way in which Kinesiology is different from conventional
Western medicine is that it does not work symptomatically.
Put simply this means that we are not treating symptoms.
We view the body in terms of energy and any imbalance usually
manifests itself in some kind of physical symptom. Alison’s
job therefore is to find what the cause of this energy
imbalance is to enable the symptom to get better.
Over time there has been a recognition that we are not
just physical beings. We are far more
complex than that. That is to say that we are emotional beings
who have feelings and our feelings can have a huge impact
on the way our energy
operates within us. |

Furthermore our modern day living puts us very much into
thinking mode where we have become mental (left
brain) thinkers and tend to push away our feelings and our
intuition. This pattern can create a kind of energy imbalance
that Kinesiology seems to help.
The food that we eat is important as it is the fuel that keeps us going. Imagine
a situation where you are feeding it with the incorrect kind of nutrients for
your body and therefore what kind of output do you achieve. It is not just nutrition but
our surrounding environment that has an effect on us. The electromagnetic field
that we create around us is challenging for some individuals’ energy.
We also look at people’s spirituality, the things that
they love to connect into but that sometimes fall by the way side due to time
and life pressures.
Kinesiology works beautifully to bring all aspects of a person into balance to
enable us to feel much better and more in control of our own lives.
After a session the client usually has some areas to work on at home, some of
which can be quite challenging as we are helping the body to repattern itself
and to leave some old negative programming behind.
As an experience it can feel hugely liberating and self empowering.
More often than not, the challenge that the client arrived with initially has
got better as a result of some of the other areas that we have worked on.
Remember as well that symptoms do not have to just be physical ones. They come
in all shapes and sizes - relationship issues, stress, learning difficulties,
food intolerances, insomnia, irritable bowel - the list is endless. It is best
to look at it by saying that if something is not in balance then an imbalance
is created within the body that requires adjusting. |

The purpose of the client’s first appointment is
to take a detailed history of the issues that are taking
place in their life now and in the past. It also introduces
muscle testing to the client for the first time and enables
some preliminary work to be started. A follow up appointment
is suggested within a two week period and thereafter at perhaps
three or four weekly intervals.
It is important to have drunk some mineral or filtered water
before each consultation as this ensure that the body is
hydrated and prepared for muscle testing. |
